How the Big boys Keep their Big Rigs on the Road

August 14, 2017 By dean98342

Think you can easily get away only by changing your motor oil? You must think again!

Whether you manage the fleet, drive construction vehicles or family car, every vehicle needs proper maintenance and attention to keep going.

For those who depend on their vehicle to carry out everyday jobs, a bit of attention and maintenance can increase the longevity of vehicle for many years.

So what do you need to know to maintain your vehicle like an expert?

There is no secret to it except for the fact that every motor expert aims at solving problems before they arise.

And that is only possible by giving your vehicle complete inspection at least once a month.

While many people feel like maintaining a car is a hectic job, looking after heavy vehicles requires expert understanding and skills.

In order to ensure that your vehicle lasts a lifetime, let us share with you seven recommended ways, right from the experts, to maintain your car.

Regular change of oil

There are six different fluids in a car that need to be replaced every six months.

To ensure maximum life for your vehicle, always change your oil and use only the best quality oil for that purpose.

Consult your mechanic to choose the right viscosity-index to save your engine from damage.

Get your tires balanced

Heavy vehicles pass through uneven roads or tracks; therefore, the tires lose their balance which causes severe vibration during the drive.

These vibrations further increase wear on the suspension as well as on the tires.

Make sure you get your tires in balance and also rotate your tires after changing the oil to ensure an evenly wear.

Check belts and hoses

The key to keeping your vehicle perfectly in shape in all seasons is to keep a check for possible wear of belts and hoses.

If the belts snap or hoses crack, the radiator will overheat.

Check belts and hoses for any damage, cracks, loose connections or leaks so that it does not hamper the smooth drive.Get the engine cleaned

The engine is the heart of the vehicle.

For best performance, make sure to get the air filters cleaned and free from debris, dust and chemical contaminations.

Replace with a clean air filter after running the vehicle up to 20000 – 30000 miles or more.

Check the radiator and coolant

Vehicles that run a lot are likely to wear more due to excessive heat.

There should always be a limit and break during the drive to avoid your car from overheating.

If not, the metal parts might start melting and cause many engine problems.

Get your brakes checked

Being the top most safety mechanism of your vehicle, if you feel even the slightest issue in your brakes, then get them checked immediately.

The brake problem is likely to increase significantly and quickly in case it remains unattended.

The battery maintenance

The changing temperature causes the battery to overcharge. Whatever kind of battery your vehicle uses, it is imperative that it be maintained and tested.

It is important to get your battery tested when you experience even a minor issue.

Moreover, keep your battery in good condition by regularly wiping off the terminals (after detaching them).

Make sure all connections are tight and that the battery is fixed properly.
